Aberdeen - "The Granite City"
Aberdeen is known by many locals as the Granite City, The Silver City with the Golden sands, since most of the city was built in granite, which in the sun shimmers like silver. Aberdeen is also known as the oil capital of Europe due to the discovery of the North Sea oil.

Aberdeen is Scotland's third largest city which is situated around the mouths of the River Dee and River Don. In 1319, it received Royal Burgh status from Robert the Bruce, transforming the city economically.

Aberdeen is centered around the port where once clipper ships left the slipways for the China tea trade, but now the port is full of passenger and freight ferries and of course oil tankers bound for the North Sea. Aberdeen has won 'Britain in Bloom' a number of times and is the perfect Scottish seaside city steeped in culture and history, yet a vibrant nightlife and numerous attractions for tourists.
